Q3 Recap 2022

Q3 has been huge in the recent quarter here at Advantage Partners Lawyers. As we said goodbye to the 21/22 financial year and the cooler weather, we have seen major growth and transformation within ourselves and our clients across July, August and September. From conferences to conventions, franchising purchases and website updates, we have been busy! To catch up with all the images, follow our Instagram!

In July, we gave our website a major update. Head on over to see all the latest updates and download your free copy of one of our Business & Legal Guides while you're at it. July 1 saw in the beginning of the new financial year!

Also this month, we finalised one of our client’s 4th franchise retail site business purchases. We have been with them from their first business, to now about to set up their 4th in less than 6 years! We also had another client in close running with their 3rd franchise purchase, while on the other side we were working with a new Franchisor client to get prepped to start granting franchises. Overall, July saw a greater confidence in setting up and buying businesses, with increased interest in protecting existing businesses via proper contracts, website and sale terms, and trademark registrations.

July also saw our Managing Director Simone Pentis catch up with her international mastermind group of entrepreneurial lawyers, connecting online with entrepreneurial business owners from Australia and overseas, and attending a conference focused on how we can continue to grow and help us and our clients become stronger businesses. This is all part of our values of continued learning and improvement. We want our clients to have continued success, so we want to ensure we are keeping focused on providing great legal and business services and strategies to do this!

Throughout August, we saw continued interest in protecting, growing and buying businesses. We worked with clients to better understand how to protect their brand and business, move on to their next business chapter and go into partnerships with eyes open and protections in place.

Simone attended the start of 2022 Gold Coast Business Week – a week full of business events connecting with other entrepreneurs from the Gold Coast and beyond, as well as getting key insights to help establish and grow successful businesses here and overseas. The opening sessions included an address by the Gold Coast City Mayor, Tom Tate, presentations by Michael McQueen (who we highly recommend you follow for information on key trends) and Qld’s Chief Entrepreneur and co-founder of RedEye - Wayne Gerard.

We were also excited in August to be part of the working committee for the Franchise Council of Australia's upcoming National Legal Symposium, helping to create what will be a stand-out day for legal knowledge and strategy for franchising in Australia.

September saw us celebrate National Family Business Month where we recognised all the contributions family businesses make in our world. This month saw our Simone Pentis attend the Future Females event on Alternative Funding. It was a great event where we took away tips and strategies for the various ways businesses can fund and grow, as well connections to assist some of our clients on their growth journey. We also attended the TSS Breakfast where Opposition Leader, Peter Dutton, gave insights into his views and approaches as he now leads the Liberal Party. The world also reeled with the news of Queen Elizabeth II's death. There was a varying impact to those in Australia, renewed debate and the issues that arise with an unexpected extra public holiday.

One of our clients Acai Brothers had their recently appointed Singapore Master Franchisee already successfully launched their first Singapore store. We spoke with some of our multi-site franchise clients who have been doing well, with one of our clients we helped this month go into contract for their 5th franchise purchase! On the other end, we have worked with some clients in and outside of mediations in assisting them to exit some unfortunate lease and franchise situations so that they can move forward.

Overall this quarter, we have continued to see business confidence grow through work and inquiries coming in and from speaking with our clients. Don't forget we have Discovery sessions that have led to parties taking the next step -both small and large - to establish and grow their businesses from getting template NDAs in place, website reviews and term updates done, to trademark registrations, shareholder agreements and franchising.

We are really looking forward to the final quarter of 2022 and are excited for you all to join us on our journey.
